BIAS SHIPS SOUNDSOAP STAND-ALONE EDITION WITH UPDATED PLUG-IN
World's easiest pro-quality noise reduction software removes hiss, hum & other audio problems — targeted at videographers, multimedia & web developers, music & audio enthusiasts & others
Petaluma, CA • May 19th, 2003 • BIAS, Inc. today began shipping both the stand-alone edition and plug-in update of SoundSoap, a digital audio signal processing tool for the Macintosh and Windows computer platforms. SoundSoap is the first professional-quality noise reduction solution that's also easy enough for average consumers to use effectively. By adjusting just two knobs, anyone can remove unwanted hiss, room noise, rumble, electrical hum, and other background noise from almost any digital media file — including digital video (DV) soundtracks, PowerPoint and other presentation software soundtracks, Flash and other web-tool soundtracks, digital audio workstation tracks, cassette or other analog tape recordings that have been transferred to a computer, and other sources.
Follows Release of Successful Plug-in
Since its release on December 16th 2002, the plug-in version of SoundSoap for VST and DirectX has been tremendously successful. BIAS is pleased to bring the groundbreaking technology of SoundSoap to users who do not own compatible host programs via the stand-alone version.
"While many customers have been enjoying SoundSoap as a plug-in for their host programs — including BIAS Peak and Cubase SX on Mac OS X as well as Sound Forge, Adobe Premiere, and Wavelab, on Windows XP- there are many others who would greatly benefit from a stand-alone version," said Jason E. Davies, BIAS VP of Worldwide Sales. "Many of the potential customers seeking the noise reduction capabilities of SoundSoap don't use programs that host third party audio plug-ins, and still others use host applications that support a plug-in format other than VST or DirectX. The stand-alone version brings the power and ease-of-use of SoundSoap to anyone, without requiring a compatible VST or DirectX host application."
Seamless Workflow
SoundSoap stand-alone works seamlessly with most video editing applications, including Apple iMovie, Final Cut Express, Adobe Premiere, ULEAD MediaStudio7, and many others. SoundSoap stand-alone enables users to simply open their clips, clean them up, and render a new processed file (QuickTime, AIFF, DV, .WAV, and SDII files are supported). The clean file can then be imported directly into the application of their choice. Alternatively, SoundSoap can open an entire movie project, and offers a convenient transport control for file navigation and selection control. A QuickTime movie window allows for monitoring of the video while working with SoundSoap.
Wash it Off
SoundSoap works by removing "broadband" noise (such as room noise, tape hiss, road noise from a moving vehicle, or noise from air conditioners). It also removes low-frequency rumble, as well as hum — the 50Hz and 60Hz electrical "buzzing" sound common in many audio recordings. With a single click of the "learn noise" button, SoundSoap can even intelligently learn the difference between the noise and the desired audio — instantly achieving amazingly effective results.
With moderate or subtle noise problems, SoundSoap can make the difference between a project that sounds amateurish and one that sounds professional; with more extreme noise problems, SoundSoap can effectively salvage an otherwise unusable audio file. In keeping with BIAS' tradition of creating powerful native-capable audio applications, SoundSoap takes full advantage of the processing power of your computer, with no additional hardware needed.
Watch it Clean
SoundSoap is exceptionally easy to use and requires no understanding of complicated audio engineering techniques or terminology. Instead, SoundSoap has an innovative display that actually shows the unwanted noise being removed; by adjusting just two knobs while watching the display, anyone can use SoundSoap. It also works with many of the most common audio file formats exported by video editing and presentation applications.
Plug-in Updated to version 1.0.1
Along with the release of the stand-alone version of SoundSoap, BIAS has optimized the plug-in version for even cleaner results and enhanced DirectX compatibility for applications such as Cakewalk's Sonar and other Windows XP compatible host applications.
Pricing and Availability
SoundSoap 1.1 stand-alone edition and version 1.0.1 of the plug-in for Mac OS X v.10.2 and Windows XP, are now available as free downloadable updates to all registered users of SoundSoap 1.0. SoundSoap 1.1 stand-alone is now included with the shipping 1.0.1 version of the plug-in. BIAS SoundSoap has a suggested introductory retail price of just $99 US, and is currently available through the worldwide network of authorized BIAS dealers and distributors and directly from BIAS, Inc.
